Glitter and Grunge: Textured OOTD (Part Two)

If you’re keeping up with the blog, you know that I am covering the a trend outside of my fashion comfort zone: Grunge.  In the August issue of Lucky, cover-model Blake Lively is featured in several different interpretations of Grunge.  With fashion authorities like Lucky Magazine and Blake Lively commanding the Grunge look, I figured there must be something to this trend.  In this second part of my coverage, I styled two Gorgeous NEW faces to Ginger Snaps: Anna and Lindsay.

OOTD Details

With both girls, I wanted to incorporate texture.  I mix feminine elements (like color) with edgy accessories and textures typical of grunge.

Starting with Anna, the off-white sheen of the leather jacket (surprisingly a $20 find from Forever 21!!) layers over the textured, beaded blouse and gold-studded leather skirt.  Her legs look amazing in sexy rose-detail stockings and over-the-knee boots.  Her feathered jewelry is vintage and her pink purse is embellished with a row of studded-fringe.

Lindsays’ look has just the right amount of sexy.  You’ll remember this Alexander McQueen hunter green leather jacket if you have been following my blog since it’s early days.  Check out how I styled it with printed silk pants in this post.  I met Lindsay through Burning Man, so it’s ironic that I chose to style the jacket over a a chain link bra that we both acquired from a costume sale hosted by our camp, Kostume Kult.  Her gauzy dress balances the sexiness of the look with feminine lace.

Accessories

On Anna, delicate vintage necklaces with pops of feathers are paired with the cutest pink bird ring (from Forever 21, of course!) and the lightest pink bag from H&M.  I love how the soft pink color off-sets the studs and fringe.

On Lindsay, statement epaulets by BCBG Max Azria are draped over the shoulders of the green leather jacket.  Her back-pack is reminiscent of the fad in the early 90′s, but I love how it is covered with vintage-looking buttons.  It was a find at Aldo, still available in stores now!

Flat combat boots are something I still can’t see myself in.  (Although, I am toying with a do-it-yourself re-creation of the Chloe?? boot shown below) As an alternative to this traditional grunge staple, I styled Anna in an over-the-knee wedge by Marciano and chose a heeled bootie for Lindsay.
